Submit a proposal for the 2025 ERSL Conference

The Emerging Recreational Sports Leaders Planning Committee is officially announcing an open call for presentation proposals for the 33rd annual Emerging Recreational Sports Leaders Conference, which will take place on the East Coast at Howard University in Washington, D.C. from February 19–21, 2025. Submit your proposal by Monday, November 4!

We’re very excited to be at Howard since it’s one of the oldest HBCUs in the country and its location allows easy access to a major network of museums. This offers attendees a unique opportunity for both learning and exploring.

By bringing thought leaders, innovators, and aspiring professionals together, we aim to create an environment that not only honors D.C.’s rich history and Howard University’s legacy, but also inspires the next generation to drive positive change and innovation in collegiate recreation. Join us for this monumental experience that provides a bridge between the past and the future—registration will open in October. You can be part of a movement that shapes tomorrow’s leaders today by submitting a presentation proposal!

The ERSL Conference is rooted in being a space for young professionals and soon-to-be professionals to connect with one another, share unique ideas, and develop skills that will serve them for years to come. As a NIRSA signature event, this is an experience designed to fit the needs of all who attend whether their goals are professional networking, learning more about the current industry, building friendships and mentorships, a little bit of everything, or something else entirely!

The 2025 ERSL Conference theme, “Monumental Experiences,” represents not only the last 75 years of NIRSA, the 33 years of the ERSL Conference, and the entirety of the city of Washington, D.C., but also envelopes the current state of collegiate recreation as we all strive to be bold and courageous leaders. As always, the ERSL Conference is carefully planned so that our students leave feeling inspired and empowered through both formal and informal networking and learning opportunities. We have lots to celebrate at the 2025 ERSL Conference and anticipate making a big impact on attendees.

We’re seeking proposals that correspond to the theme “Monumental Experiences” and that help move collegiate recreation into the future. Consider submitting a presentation proposal by Monday, November 4! Additionally, 14 NIRSA Foundation scholarships that support both students and professional who are interested in attending the ERSL Conference are available. The applications for scholarships will be open through Wednesday, November 20. We hope to see you in D.C.!
