North London Derby on Sunday

While the North London Derby has generally tended to favour the home side over the last couple of decades, Arsenal have broken that trend by winning their last two visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mike Arteta’s men will come into Sunday’s game needing three points after being held to a draw against Brighton before the international break and with a trip to the Etihad Stadium up next.

However, they will be without some key players for the derby, which is why many pundits have backed the two sides to play out a score draw, including the likes of Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright (Stick to Football).

Chris Sutton predicts an exciting Tottenham win

Sutton refused to sit on the fence, backing Ange Postecoglou’s men to overcome their local rivals on Sunday and predicting that Tottenham’s fortunes in front of goal will change in the derby.

The former Celtic striker told BBC Sport: “The Gunners will get chances in this game and I expect them to score. They won this fixture 3-2 last season and drew 2-2 at the Emirates, and I am expecting more of the same. This time, however, I am going to back Spurs.

“I know everyone who is reading this will probably go for a draw but I am not going to do that. Instead, I am going to stick my long neck out and say ‘Angeball’ will come out on top.

“Spurs have dominated games and created chances this season, but they just need someone to stick the ball in the back of the net. I have a feeling that will happen for them here. If I am right, then we may as well hand the title to Manchester City.”

Prediction: Tottenham 3-2 Arsenal

Spurs Web Opinion

I actually preferred Tottenham going into this game as underdogs. I now feel a lot more nervous since many pundits are expecting Spurs to compete and even come on top on the back of Arsenal’s injury problems.
