Gray Pleased With Clean Sheet & Three Points

0 2

David Gray was “really pleased” after Hibernian FC’s 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Easter Road.

Goals from Mykola Kuharevich and Martin Boyle secured our first William Hill Premiership win of the 2024/25 campaign, in what was a dominant display from the Hibees.

When speaking to Hibs TV after the game, Gray gave his thoughts on the performance.

“I’m really pleased, especially with the second half. I was really pleased with the clean sheet and the three points; it was brilliant to get both today.

“I thought we were worthy of the three points in the second half especially. The players deserved it for their efforts, it was a collective performance today.”

Mykola Kuharevich gave Hibs the lead just before half-time, bundling the ball over the line, and Gray believed that goal really settled down his side.

“We needed to be better and show more composure and belief on the ball in the first half. We were edgy with our decision making but I do think the goal in the first half gave the players a lift and settled the crowd down a bit too.

“We took confidence from the goal, and you could see that in the second half. We created chances, we were free-flowing, and the subs came on at the right time to make us better.”

Today’s win also sealed our first clean sheet of the league campaign, which our Head Coach believes the players can take a lot of confidence from.

“I’m delighted for the whole team. We’ve come under a lot of criticism defensively and we knew we needed to be better, so we weren’t shying away from that at all. A lot of hard work went into getting that clean sheet, but it was also the manner of it today, I think we deserved it.

“I felt we were in control today and that’s from everyone’s decision-making, from the goalkeeper all the way through to the pressing from the front.”
