The new Wales football era

The Craig Bellamy era for Wales has got off to a solid start, with the nation picking up four points from their opening two Nations League games against Turkey and Montenegro.

It was Davies who was the star of the show in their 0-0 draw against Turkey at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday, putting his body on the line and delivering a real captain’s display for his side.

The Tottenham man was hailed for a ‘colossal performance’ by the Welsh media (Wales Online) and he has proven his value to the side once again just a few days on.

Ben Davies was the hero once again

The defender lined up at left-back this time as the Dragons started in a 4-4-1-1 formation, with early goals from Kieffer Moore and Harry Wilson seeing the away side emerge with a 2-1 win.

Who Scored handed Davies a match rating of 7.51, which was the second highest in the Wales side after Wilson.

Davies had a pass completion rate of over 80 per cent, blocked three shots, and made two tackles, two interceptions and three clearances throughout the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, Brennan Johnson came on as a substitute in place of Conor Roberts just before half-time, with the Spurs winger being handed a rating of 6.1.

Spurs Web Opinion

These 180 minutes during the international break will have done a lot of good for Ben Davies as he aims to get match-fit.

The Welshman will now be sharp and ready to play when the Europa League and Carabao Cup begins over the coming weeks.
