Supercomputer predicts how far Tottenham will go in the Europa League this year

A supercomputer used by Grosvenor Sport (as relayed by Football.London), predicts that Tottenham Hotspur will reach the semifinals of the Europa League this season.

The new Europa League format

The Europa League enters a different format this season, with each team having eight group matches rather than the usual six, with four at home and four away, all against different opponents.

All teams will be ranked in a singular league table, with the team’s positions dictating whether they will have a play-off, the round of sixteen pairings, and their path to the final.

An AI used by Grosvenor Sport has predicted that Tottenham will finish 11th in the table, which means that they will have to go through an additional two-legged playoff round to get to the latter stages.

Manchester United nightmare for Tottenham

Lyon are predicted to finish at the top of the table while Porto and Lazio have been backed to finish second and third respectively.

The supercomputer predicts that Spurs will emerge through the playoffs and go all the way until the semifinals of the competition where they will be knocked out by Manchester United.

It is predicted that the Red Devils will be crowned champions, getting the better of Athletic Club Bilbao on penalties in the final.

Spurs Web Opinion

This prediction certainly does not sound outlandish, and one would expect both Spurs and Man Utd to take the Europa League quite seriously this season as neither club look likely to be competing at the very top end of the Premier League.

I would be disappointed and surprised if Spurs only finished 11th in the league phase of the competition though.
