Spurs star admits he now feels in ‘really good shape’ to compete at the highest level

Speaking to the Swedish media, Dejan Kulusevski admits that he is now at peak fitness condition to compete at the highest level at the start of the season.

After a great start to his Tottenham career, Dejan Kulusevski has blown a bit hot and cold at the North London club over the past 12 months.

Spurs fans will be hoping that this is the season that he kicks on and reaches the next level as the 24-year-old’s talent has never been in doubt.

Already this season, the attacker has been deployed as an attacking midfielder, a winger and even as a false nine by Ange Postecoglou, with the former Juventus man’s versatility making him a valuable member of the Tottenham squad.

Kulusevski is fit and ready to fight

Meanwhile, Kulusevski is also embarking on a new era in the international scene, with new coach Jon Dahl Tomasson taking over earlier this year. The Tottenham winger wore the armband as Sweden overcame Azerbaijan 3-1 in the Nations League qualifier on Thursday.

Speaking after the game, Kulusevski told Aftonbladet: “I feel in really good shape, physically ready to play, to compete at the highest level and win the match.”

The Spurs star acknowledged that he and other experienced players in the Sweden dressing room now need to step up after several of the seniors have moved on.

The winger added: “We are a new team, we have a new coach, we have a new game idea, we are stronger. It’s a good start to something big. It is a completely new team. There are a lot of young players, hungry, who want to show, who want to win.

“It’s the first time they’re (the veterans) not there and it’s clear we miss them. There are great players and important people, but you just have to move on.

“It’s new players who get to take their places, try to do as well or even better. You don’t get that many chances. If you get the chance, you just have to take it.”
