Tottenham Hotspur will likely come up against Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the Europa League this season, after a loan move to Galatasaray was agreed this week.

The Europa League, along with the Champions League, enters a new format this season, with the Lilywhites having eight matches in the league phase rather than the usual six group-stage games.

Among these is a trip to Turkey to take on Galatasaray on November 7, and it has now emerged that the fixture will be even more challenging for the Lilywhites.

This is because Osimhen has signed for the Istanbul club on loan this week, after falling out with the hierarchy at Napoli over his desire to leave this summer.

It is explained that the Nigerian international was not in Antonio Conte’s plans, and after negotiations over a move to Chelsea or Al Ahli fell through last week, he had to find a new home.

With the Turkish window remaining open, Osimhen’s options were few and far between, but the 24-year-old will be playing his football with Galatasaray this season.

That means he will likely line up against Tottenham in their Europa League league phase match in November, which is sure to be a challenge for Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven.
