The North London Derby is nearly here

While most football fans will dread the international break, there is a tantalising game that immediately follows, with Spurs welcoming their North London rivals to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 15.

Ange Postecoglou’s side can send out a real statement by beating their local rivals, and their hopes of doing so have been boosted as the visitors will be without Rice for the game.

The midfielder was sent off for two yellow card offences in the 1-1 draw against Brighton, with his second booking coming as a result of the 25-year-old stopping the Seagulls from taking a quick free-kick.

Rice will miss the North London Derby

Football.London have confirmed that Mikel Arteta’s men will be without Rice when they visit N17 in two weeks.

Since the England international got two yellow cards instead of a straight red, the decision cannot be appealed by Arsenal.

One would assume that Jorginho will come into the midfield to replace the absent Rice when Arsenal visit Tottenham in N17 later this month.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is a boost for Tottenham as Arsenal are undoubtedly a weaker side without Rice’s energy and quality in the middle of the park, with neither Thomas Partey nor Jorginho being natural fits in the left-sided eight role.

That being said, Spurs will still need to put in a 10/10 performance to beat their bitter rivals.
