Red Sox Prospect Kyle Teel Smacks First Triple-A Home Run

Kyle Teel had been in Triple-A for nearly two series since the Boston Red Sox promoted him to Triple-A alongside Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer.

He had early success defensively from throwing out base runners to winning challenges on the ABS system, Teel hadn't looked like the high-impact hitter he performed like in Double-A Portland. The Red Sox's No. 3 prospect took a step in the right direction on Sunday, launching a solo home run to dead center field for the Worcester Red Sox.

Teel hit just .118 with a .344 OPS with 19 strikeouts in his first 13 games since the promotion. With Anthony excelling and Mayer's season coming to an injury-induced end, Teel's bat coming around would be an encouraging update for the Red Sox as the "Big Three" gets closer and closer to the big leagues.

The prospects have three remaining series on the schedule as the Triple-A schedule winds down.
