‘Never say never’ – Sky journalist offers Spurs fans hope of deadline day signing

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge is refusing to rule out a deadline day signing by Tottenham but the journalist insists that the Lilywhites have managed to fill all the holes they wanted to this summer.

Spurs have had a busy summer

Tottenham have been one of the busiest clubs in Europe this summer, with a mass exodus taking place from Hotspur Way while several new faces have also arrived through the door.

Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Joe Rodon, Tanguy Ndombele, Troy Parrott, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Bryan Gil, Emerson Royal, Oliver Skipp and Manor Solomon have left the club so far.

Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon are expected to follow them out the door before the window shuts at 11 pm today (Football Insider).

Meanwhile, Spurs have strengthened their squad with the acquisition of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert and Lucas Bergvall (who was signed back in January).

Could we see a surprise Spurs deadline day signing?

Bridge has now suggested that although Spurs are not expected to be busy in terms of incomings over the coming hours, a late signing cannot be ruled out.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I think with Tottenham, you never say never. But my understanding is not to expect a busy deadline day in terms of incomings. They wanted an out-and-out striker, Postecoglou wanted Solanke, they got Solanke. I think they’ve been really impressive.

“What they’ve seen of Archie Gray so far, we also know that Odobert came out of nowhere, but he’s another option. He gives Spurs something a little bit different in the wide areas.”

There aren’t any obvious weaknesses in our squad at the minute that need filling.

The only place where an addition might make sense is perhaps bringing in another young centre-back who can serve as the fourth choice.
