Report: Spurs may be forced to loan out duo for the final year of their contracts

0 2

Tottenham Hotspur have managed to move on just about every fringe player they wanted to dispose of this summer, but two remain. And, with the transfer deadline looming, the club has come to terms with the fact that they may have to look at loaning them out rather than selling.

Temporary moves may be necessary

The exodus at Spurs this summer has been an impressive one, with 14 players departing so far. Some, like Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon, and Japhet Tanganga were released from their contracts.

Emerson Royal, Oliver Skipp, Joe Rodon, and Troy Parrott brought in cash for the Lilywhites as part of their sales. However, Bryan Gil is still technically on Tottenham’s books, with a loan move to Girona all that could be arranged.

The same may now happen for Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon, according to Football Insider, with Spurs prepared to accept loan offers before the transfer window closes.

The report highlights the two players as the key remaining figures in Ange Postecoglou‘s squad who have no future at the club. However, with the transfer deadline closing on Friday night, Spurs are now open to the idea of loaning them out, despite a sale being the preference.

Who wants Lo Celso and Reguilon?

The most likely destination for Lo Celso is a return to Real Betis, with Relevo revealing the Spanish side are ready to sign the Argentine midfielder once the sale of Nabil Fekir is complete.

Reguilon, meanwhile, is a target for Barcelona (Sport via Sport Witness) and a number of Turkish sides (A Spor).

Spurs Web Opinion

I think we might be able to sell Lo Celso, albeit for a cut-price deal with Real Betis, before the deadline.

However, I can definitely see Reguilon being loaned out again. Other clubs just cannot afford his wages, and the only way we’ll get him off our books is to release him.
