‘Open to an opportunity’ – Journalist says Spurs could have busy 48 hours of transfers

The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel is refusing to rule out the possibility of Tottenham making a late signing, with the journalist revealing that the club are still looking for late opportunities to strengthen their squad.

Are Tottenham still looking for signings?

There have not been any major transfer rumours linking Spurs with moves for particular players over the last few days, which might suggest that the North London are done in the transfer market.

However, the Lilywhites have operated stealthily so far in this window, managing to keep most of their transfer dealing under wraps.

That is perhaps what tempted Fabrizio Romano to tell GiveMeSport on Tuesday that Tottenham could pull another surprise out of the hat before Friday’s deadline.

The Italian journalist named Spurs as ones to watch in the final hours of the window, insisting that Ange Postecoglou’s men could even bring two new signings through the door.

A busy next 48 hours for Tottenham

However, Mokbel is a little less optimistic about Tottenham’s chances of making a late addition, stating that although the club are alive to opportunities, they are not actively looking at anyone right now. The club could still have a busy next 48 hours with outgoings though.

When asked if Spurs can have a busy end to the window, he told Last Word on Spurs: “In terms of outgoings. yes, it might be [busy]. I think the club are hoping it will be a busy 48 hours/72 hours.

“In terms of incomings, never say never. In this game and often I’ve shot myself in the foot, numerous times, with saying something might happen, or will happen, and it hasn’t.

“They’re open to an opportunity if one presents itself. But I don’t think they’re actively looking for something, at the moment.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Tottenham pull off a surprise by making a late signing, it will not be a big-name glamourous addition as there are no major holes to fill in the squad.

It will likely be a young, up-and-coming centre-back or a left-back, who can serve as an understudy and learn his trade over the next 12 months.
