Report: Tottenham are working on a late defender signing this week

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing a centre-back before the transfer window closes at 11 pm on Friday.

With just a few days left in the window, some sources are continuing to suggest that Spurs may pull off a surprise deal before the window shuts.

This includes Alasdair Gold, who revealed on his YouTube channel that Tottenham are still on the lookout for opportunities and may pounce if any of their targets become available late on.

Football Insider have now asserted that Ange Postecoglou wants to add one more centre-back to his squad before the deadline.

The report explains that with Ashley Phillips being loaned out to Stoke City, the Spurs boss only has three recognised centre-backs Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin and Micky van de Ven.

It is alleged that the Australian views Ben Davies as nothing more than an emergency backup at centre-half, which is why he wants to bring one more player through the door.

The report says that Tottenham are actively working on trying to sign a new defender in the coming days.
