NFL Rumors: Former Patriots Captain Could Join Title Contender

A reunion might be on the horizon for Lawrence Guy.

Guy, a former Patriots captain who played seven seasons in Foxboro, Mass., has been an NFL free agent ever since he was released by New England in late February. The 34-year-old might not be without a job in the league for much longer, though, as he will visit and work out for the Ravens on Wednesday, per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

The veteran defensive lineman played two-plus seasons in Baltimore before joining the Patriots, so he's very familiar with John Harbaugh's operation. The 13th-year pro surely is also enticed by the possibility of winning the second Super Bowl of his career, as Lamar Jackson and company currently have the third-shortest odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to win it all this season.

New England showing virtually no interest in keeping Guy around was a bit surprising, as its D-line depth leaves a bit to be desired. The Patriots' front seven also took significant hits by the trade of Matthew Judon and the sidelining of Christian Barmore, who is on the non-football injury list due to blood clots.

Should Guy latch on with the Ravens, he will face a very tough test right out of the gate. Baltimore will open its campaign in Kansas City next Thursday with a matchup against the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs.
