Under 21 Call Ups For Kieron Bowie & Murray Johnson

Kieron Bowie and Murray Johnson have both been called up to the Scotland Under-21 squad for their upcoming European Qualifiers against Spain and Malta in September.

Bowie has impressed since joining the Hibees earlier this month, scoring his first goal for the Club after coming off the bench against Dundee.

The 21-year-old striker has been a key part of Scotland’s U21 qualifying campaign to date, scoring three goals in five games so far.

Murray Johnson has also been called up to represent Scot Gemmill’s side. Currently on loan at Airdrieonians, Murray has made an impressive start to the season, featuring five times and keeping one clean sheet so far.

The 19-year-old has been called up to previous Scotland squads, representing at U16 and U19 level and could make his under-21 next month.

The young Scots host Spain at Tynecastle on Friday 6 September, before flying out to play Malta on Tuesday 10 September.

The two matches could prove to be crucial for their EURO Under 21s qualification hopes. Scotland currently sit second in Group B, three points behind Spain with four games to play.

The nine group winners and the three best runners-up (not counting results against sixth-place teams) will qualify directly for the final tournament which takes place from 11 June to 28 June, 2025.

Tuesday 10 September - Malta v Scotland, National Stadium, Ta'Qali, 6.30pm kick-off (local time)
