Micky Van de Ven’s injury scare

Everyone associated with Spurs, including the coaching staff and the fans, had their hearts in their mouths when Van de Ven went down clutching his knee after a clash towards the end of the first half.

The Dutchman seemed to be in a lot of pain and replays showed that he might have twisted his knee after it got caught in the turf while going for a challenge.

Many would have been fearing the worst at the time as the 23-year-old has been no stranger to injuries since his move to Spurs last summer.

Thankfully, Van de Ven was able to run it off and he was moving fine when he came out for the second half.

Any concerns were put to bed when the Netherlands international made a superb run from the edge of his own box to the edge of Everton’s before setting up Son Heung-min for Tottenham’s fourth goal in the 77th minute.

Van de Ven will get his knee checked out

When asked about his knee, Van de Ven told Football.London after the full-time whistle: “It’s OK – we have to check it but it feels OK.”

When asked about his brilliant assist to Son, the centre-back responded: “I just decided to keep going, hopefully, nobody could stop me, and nothing happened. I knew Sonny was on my left so I kept driving at the centre back and at the right moment I played Sonny in.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If there were any serious concerns, Van de Ven would not have come out for the second half.

If Tottenham are going to challenge for major honours this season, it is vital that the Dutchman stays fit throughout the season as he is irreplaceable.
