ITS A GREIGHT DAY FOR THE DARTS!
Match Report: Newhaven FC 0-8 Dartford FC
London & South East Regional League Premier Division, played on Sunday 25th
August 2024.

Our second game of the season saw us travel to newly promoted Newhaven FC looking for our first three points of the season. We headed into this one wanting to put last week’s defeat behind us and we certainly did that!
Darts began this game very brightly and were on the front foot right from the first minute. So much so that we were ahead in the 3rd minute. A great move from the Darts found Poppy Payne in space in the box, the shot beat the keeper and found the net for our first goal of the afternoon.
The chances continued to come our way and we doubled our lead in the 7th minute. A super cross from Emily Vaughan found Amy Russ unmarked in the box, who fired home to double our lead.
In the 10th minute, Darts got their 3rd goal and this was a goal of real quality. Fantastic skill from Amy Russ saw the Darts forward get in behind the Newhaven defence, rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into the empty net and Darts were3-0 to the good.
Darts continued to dominate the first half and created several good chances to increase the lead. A well worked set piece found Beth Powell at the back post, but the headed effort on goal came back off the woodwork.
In the final stages of the first half, Darts got the 4th and 5th goal in the space of three minutes. The 4th goal saw Jo Woodgates shoot from distance and beat the keeper with a wonder strike. We’ve seen goals like that before! The 5th goal was another well worked team move that ended with Shauni Griffiths through on goal, an audacious chip over the goalkeeper scoring the Darts 5th and her 50th goal for the
club. Fantastic achievement for the Darts midfielder!
The second half began similarly to the first and the Darts continued to dominate and create chances looking to extend our lead. In the 62nd minute, Shauni Griffiths crossed the ball and found Emily Vaughan who fired home to score our 6th goal of the afternoon. In the 65th minute, a corner from the right found Amy Russ in the box and the Darts forward poked the ball beyond the keeper to score her 3rd goal of the contest and the 7th goal of the game.
In the final stages of the half, a great through ball from Teni Charles found Amy Russ, who squared the ball for Emily Vaughan and the Darts forward fired home for goal number 8.
A fantastic performance from the Darts saw us earn our first three points of the season. A massive thank you to all the supporters who travelled down to the south coast!
