Tommy special wins it in thrilling finish

0 3

A Tommy Creamer special with the last kick of the game snatched a thrilling 2-1 bank holiday Monday victory for the Bay and ended Buckley Town’s unbeaten league record.

In an extraordinary finish to the game, Buckley had a player sent off, Bay took the lead through Rhys Nash, then lost it when Buckley were awarded an 88th minute penalty – only for Tommy to score the winner six minutes into added time.

That lifted the Bay into the top four of the JD Cymru North table, although they remain seven points adrift of leaders Airbus UK.

In a goalless first half Sol Forde had a header from a corner saved by Buckley keeper Ryan Goldston, and from their best chance Josh Carey sent Ethan Roberts’ cross over the bar.

In the second half a good run by Will McKinley, making his first start of the season, played in Gwion Dafydd, but his cross just evaded Jamie Cumming at the far post.

The game exploded into life when Buckley had Callum Humphreys red carded for taking down Lloyd Marsh-Hughes, who would have been clear on goal – and just at a time when Buckley were turning up the pressure.

The Bay quickly took advantage to take the lead on 84 minutes when Rhys Nash beat the keeper in the air to a rebound from a shot following a fine cross by Ethan Roberts.

Buckley, however, were level four minutes later when they were awarded a controversial penalty scored by Danny Holland. The referee waved play on at first when Buckley appealed, but the linesman signalled for a spot kick.

It looked like victory had been snatched away until Tommy Creamer’s sensational last-kick winner as Bat stretched their unbeaten run to five games.
