Match Preview: Airdrieonians vs Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park return to William Hill Championship action on Saturday when they make the short trip to The Albert Bartlett Stadium to face Airdrieonians.

Last season the Spiders and the Diamonds shared the spoils with two draws at Airdrie and a win apiece at Hampden with Queen’s Park’s 2-0 success back in May providing the points that secured Championship football for a third season running.

Both sides exited the Premier Sports Cup last weekend to Premiership opposition however in differing ways with Queen’s pushing Aberdeen all the way to injury time before losing 1-0 and Airdrie losing four goals in the final half an hour in a 6-1 defeat at Dundee.

The Queen’s Park Media Team met with Callum Davidson to preview the game.

The season so far
Queen’s Park and Airdrie both made progress from the Group stages of the Premier Sports Cup having secured nine points. Rhys McCabe’s team started the season with a whopping 8-0 success over East Kilbride and followed that up with a 4-3 comeback win at Dumbarton.

Like Queen’s, Airdrie gave Aberdeen a hard time of things before losing 2-1 with a 2-0 win over Queen of the South booking their place in the last sixteen.

In the Championship Airdrie picked up three points on the opening day with a 1-0 win over Raith Rovers at home however their second outing was not as successful as they went down 5-0 live on TV at Ayr United.

Queen’s are looking for their first league success this season after picking up a hard-earned point in the 1-1 draw with visitors Livingston in their last outing.

Supporters Information

Parking for away supporters is at Petershill Road there will be a charge of £3.00 per car and £5.00 per coach. There is a short walk past the astro pitches to the Main Stand.

Queen’s Park supporters will occupy sections A & B in the Main Stand and should enter by Turnstiles 1, 2, 3 & 4. Turnstiles will be open at 2pm.

The complimentary ticket point collection will be in the bar at the stadium. There will be a desk within the bar to allow collection.

Away supporters are welcome in the supporters bar both pre and post match.

Airdrie will operate a cash gate on the day although supporters are advised to purchase a ticket online before arriving at the stadium.
