From What I’m Hearing – Rio Ferdinand Makes Raheem Sterling Claim

0 2

Rio Ferdinand has opened up on what he has heard about the situation with Raheem Sterling at Chelsea, with the Blues not having told the winger he is surplus to requirements.

Sterling was dropped from the squad in Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City in the first league game of their season on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, the winger’s camp released a statement about the situation and revealed his disappointment at not getting an opportunity to be in the squad at the weekend.

There are suggestions that Chelsea are trying to push the attacker out of the club ahead of the end of the transfer window on 30th August.

However, Ferdinand claimed that Sterling has yet to hear from anyone that he is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and insisted that the last conversation he had made him feel that his situation at the club was secure.

The former defender said on Vibe With Five: “There is nobody delivering that message with any clarity and from what I am hearing he has got no understanding of where his situation lies.

“He hasn’t had anyone in the hierarchy come to him and say, ‘Listen, you’re surplus to requirements and we want to get rid of you’.

“And what I am hearing is that the last conversation he had was like ‘everything is fine’.

“[The person he had that conversation with] was not the manager.”

Juventus are believed to be interested in Sterling and it remains to be seen whether he is still at Chelsea at the end of the window.
