‘Move on’- Ange Postecoglou on player’s error has disrupted his Leicester plans

Ange Postecoglou has insisted the controversy surrounding Yves Bissouma has not impacted his preparation for Monday’s clash too much, insisting that he is fully focused on getting the team ready for the opener at Leicester City.

Yves Bissouma is suspended for the match at Leicester City

Spurs will start their campaign with a trip to the King Power Stadium on Monday evening.

After having watched all of their rivals take to the field over the weekend, the Lilywhites will want to start on a winning note and get out of the blocks quickly.

Tottenham fans will be excited about the possibility of debuts for the likes of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, and will hope that their firepower proves too much for the newly-promoted side.

However, the build-up to the game has been somewhat overshadowed by the controversy over Yves Bissouma, who filmed himself inhaling laughing gas last week.

Tottenham have suspended the midfielder for one game but Ange Postecoglou insisted that the matter does not derail his preparations, explaining that it is something that he is just taking in his stride.

Postecoglou is focused on facing Leicester after Bissouma incident

When asked if the timing of Bissouma’s misdemeanour is bad for the club and him, the Spurs boss told Football.London: “You would be surprised what you have to deal with as a manager, mate. I sat here last year in this exact press conference knowing that Harry [Kane] was leaving.

“I didn’t break down, I wasn’t in tears – I was OK. It’s part of a manager’s life and you kind of know with experience that you need to find ways of dealing with these things so it doesn’t impact too much on anything else that’s going on.

“Because it’s unfair to everybody else, my responsibility lies with the whole organisation. You kind of get used to the fact that unexpected things will happen and it’s important you deal with them in the best way you possible can, with all the information you have.

“So I make decisions accordingly and move on really quickly to what’s really important, and what’s really important is that we’ve got a game Monday night. For our supporters and our club, I’ve got to make sure my headspace is getting my team ready for that.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that internally, Tottenham and Postecoglou have moved on from the incident after Bissouma apologised for his actions.

The suspension is likely just intended as a PR exercise to send the right message that the club are taking the matter seriously and that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.
