Report: Tottenham may look to sell forward next summer if they get a good price

Spanish forward, Bryan Gil, departed Tottenham this summer for yet another loan to La Liga, this time with Girona. Although his loan is temporary, his time in North London appears to be permanently over.

Gil has struggled to make an impact at Tottenham

In 2021, Erik Lamela was utilised by Spurs in a swap deal with Sevilla for diminutive winger, Bryan Gil, with Tottenham paying a hefty £21.6 million as well as the Argentine for Gil, according to Sky Sports

Despite Tottenham paying a lot to sign Gil, the Spaniard struggled to make his mark, failing to find the back of the net even once in 43 games for Spurs. (TransferMarkt)

Gil was sent out on various loans as he struggled to adapt to English football with the 23-year-old even returning to his former club, Sevilla.

Tottenham are already planning to sell Gil next summer

Girona, who surprisingly qualified for the Champions League last season, have been the latest side to sign Bryan Gil on loan and according to Mike McGrath, the right offer could immediately cause a permanent move.

Mike McGrath has been speaking on The Last Word On Spurs, suggesting Gil’s time could already be up at Tottenham.

He said: “He’s surplus to requirements and so far, he’s been allowed out on loan.

“And I think if they got a good price for him, you know, that in in a year’s time, it could be one they look at. So, he’s always struck me that he’s really suited to Spanish football, rather than the Premier League.”

Paratici had an almost immaculate track record in his short time as the club’s sporting director, but Gil is a blemish on his record.

The diminutive winger clearly possesses plenty of talent, however his slight build and lack of power means he was a poor match for Tottenham.

Gil will likely shine in a more technical league such as La Liga, but it is likely the right time for Spurs to cut their losses with the ex-Sevilla man.
