'We will announce it': Erik ten Hag sends message on prospect of more signings at Man Utd

0 3

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has refused to rule out more signings during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have already recruited Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, but the latter is sidelined for three months following foot surgery.

This has led to speculation that the club could pursue another centre-back. A new central midfielder is another top priority for United before the deadline.

When asked about the prospect of more signings, Ten Hag told reporters: “When we have news, we will announce it.

“You see the market is quite quiet still but we have done our business, we have done two deals.

“It is about timings and it is about the market options and [ensuring] in the right moment we do the right things.”

United have been holding talks for multiple midfielders over the past few weeks. Burnley’s Sander Berge and Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana are on their radar.

When pressed on the recent speculation linking the club with midfielders, Ten Hag added: “I don’t go into details where we are now with recruitment and what we are working on.

“We know what we are doing and I think we are in a good position with the squad.

“For you, just wait, be patient and in the right moment, we will tell you.”

United need to bolster squad further before deadline

The Red Devils made a bright start to the transfer window with the signings of Zirkzee and Yoro.

However, things have gone pear-shaped with the latter ruled out for three months. The club must now sign another quality central defender. Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt is the priority target.

The club also have a genuine concern in midfield. Casemiro is no longer in his prime. He won just 28 percent of his duels and lost possession 16 times against Liverpool this month.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte was initially the number one target, but he is too expensive/ The club are now looking at Berge and Fofana as alternative midfield choices.

The hierarchy must find a solution ahead of the new campaign. Noussair Mazraoui has been identified as a right-back option, but the deal is being delayed due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

United plan to offload Wan-Bissaka before recruiting the Moroccan star. The club have to speed up the process so Mazraoui can be integrated into first-team training as soon as possible.
