Report: Fiorentina beat the likes of Tottenham to bargain midfield target
The Athletic revealed this week that Reims were willing to sell Tottenham target Amir Richardson for a fee of around £13m this summer. However, it appears Fiorentina have now won the race for the talented youngster.

A few days ago, Foot Mercato reported that Richardson had informed Reims of his desire to seek a new challenge this summer, with the Ligue 1 club said to have put him on the shop window.
The report explained that Spurs are fans of the box-to-box midfielder, having watched him closely over recent months, with the Premier League side alleged to be considering an offer for the player.
However, it appears Fiorentina have stolen a march on the competition.

Reims were reportedly willing to accept a fee of just £13m for their starlet, which was expected to make him a lucrative option for many sides (Athletic).
Apart from Spurs, Leicester City were also named as fans of Richardson while the midfielder was also said to be attracting interest from Serie A.
It seems one of those Serie A suitors has won the race, with Fiorentina agreeing a fee in excess of €10m with Reims for the midfielder, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Romano tweeted: ‘Fiorentina agree deal with Reims to sign 2002 born midfielder Amir Richardson. Deal in place for fee in excess of €10m. Final details to be sorted then he will be set for medical tests.’
Spurs Web Opinion
The Richardson speculation seemed like the case of the player’s agent feeding the rumours of Premier League interest in his client to the press in order to force other clubs to the negotiating table.
There is little concrete evidence to suggest that the 22-year-old was actually on Tottenham’s wishlist.
