Report: Spurs lose another key member of staff after 20 years at the club

There has been a lot of turnover behind the scenes at Tottenham this summer with a reshuffling of Postecoglou’s staff following Chris Davies’ move to Birmingham City, and the club will now also have to replace their Head of Medicine.

Geoff Scott was Tottenham’s Head of Medicine

Scott had officially been Tottenham’s Head of Science for six seasons, having initially joined the Lilywhites from Fulham back in 2004 as a Head of Physiotherapy.

The New Zealand physio led the medical and performance professionals at Spurs, according to his LinkedIn page, boasting a ‘significant reduction’ in player injuries since his employment as Head of Medicine.

Many managers have come and gone during his time at Tottenham, with Scott becoming a recognisable figure at the club since his appearance in Tottenham’s ‘All or Nothing’ documentary.

Scott was filmed informing Jose Mourinho about Harry Kane’s long-term hamstring injury, much to the frustration of The Special One.

Geoff Scott departs Spurs after 20 years

Alasdair Gold has revealed in his latest YouTube video that after 20 years of service for Tottenham, Head of Medicine, Geoff Scott, has left the club.

Gold said: “Quite a big, not in recruitment, but departure from the club from someone you might be used to seeing his face either in matches running onto the pitch or the Amazon All or Nothing documentary.

“He has been at Spurs twenty years, I think. He’s from New Zealand, he has left the club.  His position has been filled by someone else and I haven’t been able to find out exactly who that is yet.  I’m still trying to find that out, so there’s a new head of, I think it’s a different title but essentially taken on the same role.”

Spurs Web opinion

It is always difficult to judge a club or player’s injuries whether the dealings of them are down to the player, a medical advisor or the club’s medical team.

Tottenham suffered plenty of injuries last season, however, those issues were likely to be down to a new, high-tempo way of playing and has landed Scott some unfair criticism.

We would like to wish Geoff all the best with his next move.
