Report: Spurs think they can sign Premier League striker for a discounted £60m

One of Tottenham’s targets for the striker role this summer is reportedly keen to join them, and the club think they can get him for £5m less than his initial asking price.

Tottenham looking for Bournemouth bargain

Dominic Solanke has in the last few days emerged as a top target for Spurs as they look for a new number 9 to fill the void left behind by Harry Kane last summer.

Now, a report from TEAMtalk suggests the Bournemouth striker’s £65m release clause is only attainable by a select few clubs, but Spurs believe they could complete the signing of the 26-year-old for £60m instead.

The report adds that Solanke himself is eager to join Spurs, and claims talks have already taken place between the player’s representatives and the Lilywhites regarding a move this summer.

It is now thought Solanke is Tottenham’s “ideal pick” to fill the forward role Ange Postecoglou‘s side so desperately need.

Solanke is now target number one

Despite being linked with Spurs for a while, the club’s interest in Solanke has really exploded in the last 48 hours.

It was Fabrizio Romano who kicked the rumours into life on Thursday night when he claimed Spurs would ‘explore a move’ for Solanke, though he did add that any move would be difficult, and that no formal bid had been placed.

There has been some discontent among Spurs fans regarding the news, but according to Wyscout’s index (via Sky Sports), only Ollie Watkins, Heung-Min Son, and Jarrod Bowen outperformed Solanke last season among the Premier League’s attacking players.

Spurs Web Opinion

Obviously, I will get behind any player we sign, especially if it’s someone Ange has signed off on, but for me, Dominic Solanke would be a disappointing signing.

Especially if he costs us £60m. Still, I will reserve judgement until he’s actually playing for us, and obviously, I would want him to do well if he did come to Spurs.
