‘I spoke to him’ – Gary O’Neil makes Pedro Neto reveal amidst Tottenham rumours
Gary O’Neil has denied that Pedro Neto is close to an exit from Wolves but admitted that the winger could leave if a big offer arrives over the coming weeks.
The speculation linking Neto with a move to Spurs has been going strong since the start of the summer and the rumours show no signs of dissipating just yet.
On Wednesday, Football Transfers claimed that Tottenham had stepped up their pursuit of the 24-year-old, having discussed personal terms with the winger.
The outlet stated that Ange Postecoglou had identified the Portugal international as the man to bolster his side’s attack and that the Lilywhites were determined to push through the deal.
However, the report added that Tottenham may have to contend with competition from their North London rivals, Arsenal, who are also keen on Neto.
Wolves could sell Pedro Neto for a big fee
O’Neil has now broken his silence on the winger’s future, insisting that there have not been any concrete developments over the player’s future so far.
When asked about the former Braga man’s future, the Wolves boss told Express and Star podcast: “I know how good he is, and I know how well he would do at a big club. Obviously, I want our team here to be unbelievably successful. So I’m hoping that he stays.
“I think so (there’s a chance he stays). There’s nothing going on at this moment from anybody. He’s in a good spot, I’ve spoken to him about how we’re going to play and how it suits him and what a big part he’ll play in it.
“But of course, we’re all grown-ups while you’re having them conversations. If a massive bid comes from a top club then no one is going to stand in Pedro’s way.
“I’m confident that he will be here. Because we haven’t had anything really, that makes the club think that he won’t be. But of course, a lot of business can be done late.”

Reading between the lines, it sounds as if O’Neil and Wolves are very much preparing for a late sale of Neto. The Midlands club likely expect several offers to arrive for their star man over the next few weeks.
