950 mile round trip from Hampden Park to The city Stadium

0 2

Football fan Stuart Gooch made the from Hampden Park trip to The city Stadium on Saturday to take in Queen’s Park’s game with Kelty Hearts with his journey being longer than you may think.

Stuart lives in Hampden Park, but it is not the home of Scottish Football where he resides, but the Eastbourne suburb of the same name with his journey being 950 miles longer than popping across to see Queen’s Park from the National Stadium.

It was a flying visit as Stuart explained: “I flew up on Saturday morning and I flew back on Saturday night. I have always had a real soft spot for Queen’s Park and Scotland ever since I have lived in Hampden Park.

“I came up to watch Scotland play East Germany over 30 years ago to say that I had been to the ‘other’ Hampden Park. I also took in a Queen’s Park and Stirling Albion game at Hampden several years ago to say I had done that as well.

“I have wanted to watch a game at Lesser Hampden ever since and with its transformation to The city Stadium I have now been able to do that. It was a good game to take in as well with Queen’s winning 6-0.”
