Tottenham would be ready to offer £25m to sign 26-year-old attacker – Journalist
Italian journalist Gianni Balzarini claims Tottenham would be willing to offer around €30m (£25.3m) to beat Roma and Napoli to a key signing this summer (TuttoJuve).
Federico Chiesa to Tottenham Hotspur?
Federico Chiesa to Tottenham is a transfer rumour that just won’t go away this week, ever since SportMediaSet (via CalcioNapoli24) reported that the Italian winger was close to sealing a move to N17.
In fact, they reported live on air: “Chiesa will say goodbye to Italy, he won’t go to Roma or Napoli but to the Premier League. He is close to Tottenham for €30-35m (£25.3m – £29.5m).”
It didn’t take long for Fabrizio Romano to deny these rumours, stating that Chiesa has not yet decided on his next destination (Playback), even if he is set to leave Juventus this summer (Fabrizio Romano).
Spurs are prepared to bid for Chiesa
Gianni Balzarini has now become the latest journalist to weigh in on the story, reporting that Tottenham would be prepared to bid €30m (£25.3m), and maybe even higher, for Chiesa.
This would allegedly go above and beyond the €25m that Roma or Napoli can offer Juventus this summer, thus seemingly putting Tottenham at the front of the queue.
Balzarini said: “I confirm that Tottenham are interested in Federico Chiesa. That is, Tottenham would be ready to make an offer of around €30m, maybe even a little more, for Federico Chiesa and Juve could practically jump for joy.
“In the sense that it would be a figure that goes beyond the €20-25m that Roma or Napoli offered or could eventually offer.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
It seems strange that Tottenham would go above the £21m price tag already quoted by the likes of Fabrizio Romano. Either Chiesa prefers a move to Spurs over Napoli and Roma or he doesn’t.
It’s hard to look at that kind of fee as anything but a bargain, even if it is a risky one.
