AC Milan are still interested in Emerson Royal

CaughtOffside reported this week that AC Milan were set to re-open talks with Tottenham over a potential deal for Emerson, a week after talks allegedly hit a roadblock over the transfer fee (GiveMeSport).

Alasdair Gold revealed earlier this month that Milan had bid just £8.4m for the Brazilian right-back, despite Tottenham asking for around double that figure.

Fabrizio Romano also reported that Milan have already spoken to Emerson himself and have agreed personal terms on a five-year contract, in case he joins this summer.

AC Milan up their Emerson Royal bid

A new report from Premier League Brasil has now revealed that Galatasaray have also sent an offer to Tottenham for Emerson Royal in the past few days.

This seems to have prompted action from AC Milan, who swiftly agreed to meet Tottenham’s original €20m (£16.8m) price tag for the player.

The report claims that a final agreement has not yet been reached but the two teams are ‘close’ to finding some kind of middle ground in negotiations.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I still find it strange that this deal is allegedly gathering momentum when Emerson is literally in Japan with Tottenham on a pre-season tour.

I’m still waiting for the likes of Alasdair Gold to provide a more reliable update on the talks between Spurs and AC Milan.
