Report: Liverpool are set to rival Tottenham for £60 million top target

Tottenham Hotspur have long reported interest in Crystal Palace star man, Eberechi Eze, who is believed to have a release clause in his contract worth around £60 million, but Liverpool have now also joined the race.

Crystal Palace’s number ten certainly put himself in the shop window for Spurs last season as he smashed in a long-range free-kick against the Lilywhites at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a ground that Postecoglou and co have seemingly been keen to bring Eze back to ever since.

It’s believed that Eze, like Olise, has a release clause active this summer worth around £60 million plus add-ons, according to the Daily Mail.

Tottenham perhaps believed they had a clear run at the attacking midfielder after a report from The Athletic stated that although Manchester City hold an interest in the 26-year-old, they do not intend to make a move for him.

Liverpool have joined the chase for Eze

Football Insider has issued a new report though which suggests that the competition for Eze is not quite as small as first hoped.

The update reveals that both Tottenham and Liverpool have now registered their interest in signing Oliver Glasner’s prized possession, with both clubs showing the most concrete interest in the player this summer.

Spurs and Liverpool are believed to both be preparing bids for when Eze returns to training following his EUROs final heartbreak as part of the England squad.

Palace would be under less pressure to sell Eze, following the £50.8 million the cub secured as a result of Olise’s switch to Bayern Munich, but if as reported, Eze does have a release clause, Crystal Palace can’t stand in Eze’s way. (Sky Sports)

Eberechi Eze is someone that I have felt should have been a Tottenham player when he left QPR. The 26-year-old has flair, class and creativity, all skills which have made players incredibly popular at White Hart Lane down the years.

Liverpool’s interest may be a concern, but should a release clause be in Eze’s deal it may come down to a matter of playing time promises and conversations with managers, the latter of which we know Postecoglou is a specialist in.
