Country Singer Candidly Opens Up About Anthem At MLB Home Run Derby

Country singer Ingrid Andress issued a statement a day after her rendition of the national anthem at the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby.

The Grammy-nominated artist went viral after her poor singing of the American national anthem at Globe Life Field. Participants of the Home Run Derby were caught snickering on camera, and Andress’ performance drew comparisons to Fergie’s infamous singing of the national anthem at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.

Andress on Tuesday revealed what went wrong with her performance.

“I’m not gonna (expletive) y’all. I was drunk (Monday),” Andress wrote in a statement shared on her social media. “I’m checking myself into a facility (Tuesday) to get the help I need. That was not me (Monday). I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is. I hear it’s super fun. xo, Ingrid.”

On the day of her rendition of the national anthem, Andress announced her new single “Colorado 9” would be released next Wednesday. Along with the release, there would be two shows in Nashville and Denver.

There was no follow-up announcement from Andress or the music labels she’s signed with about the future of her projects.
