‘Brilliant player’ – O’Hara would love to see Spain hero come to Tottenham

Jamie O’Hara has said that he would be over the moon if Tottenham were to somehow pull off a deal to sign Spain’s Euro 2024 hero, Nico Williams.

Williams had already built a reputation as one of the best young wingers in world football prior to the Euros and his displays in Germany have seen his stock grow even further, with the 22-year-old playing a key role in La Roja’s march to the title.

The Telegraph revealed back in April that Spurs were part of a group of Premier League clubs who were interested in the 21-year-old, who is reported to have a £42.8 million buyout clause in his deal at Athletic Club Bilbao.

The likes of Aston Villa and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the pacy wide-man (Football Insider) while Chelsea have also been named as a potential contender for the player’s signature (The Standard).

However, over recent days, Barcelona have emerged as the frontrunner to land Williams, with reports indicating that the winger has expressed his intention to move to Camp Nou this summer (Mundo Deportivo).

O’Hara admitted that he would love it if Spurs were somehow able to pull off a deal for the Spain international.

When a Tottenham fan, who called in, said on talkSPORT: “Jamie, there’s a rumour that Nico Williams is coming to Spurs,” O’Hara responded: “Yeah, I would love him, of course. A brilliant player.”

Any chance Tottenham had of landing Williams seems to be over on the back of his performances in Germany.

A number of big clubs across Europe would now enter the race for the 22-year-old and Athletic Club are likely to significantly increase their asking price.
