Report: Spurs are still keeping tabs on Premier League star despite high price tag

According to the print edition of The Daily Mail (03/07/24 – page 67), Tottenham Hotspur are still keeping tabs on Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been linked with Spurs

Ange Postecoglou has three top central defenders at his disposal in the form of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin, but the Lilywhites are looking to add further reinforcements in the area.

One of the names mooted as a target over recent months is Branthwaite, and The Mail have now claimed that the Everton star is still very much on the Lilywhites’ wishlist.

The Daily Mail were among those to first report that Spurs and Man United were both looking at Branthwaite this season and it appears that is still the case for the Lilywhites.

Everton still want £75m for Jarrad Branthwaite

The report backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Man Utd are also on the 21-year-old’s trail.

However, with Everton thought to have put a £75m price tag on the defender’s head, the player has reportedly been deemed too expensive for the Red Devils, who have already had an offer turned down by the Toffees.

The publication adds that it remains to be seen if Spurs will formalise their interest in Branthwaite, with Manchester City also said to be keen on securing the England international.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is absolutely no chance that Tottenham would spend over £50m on a centre-back this summer, given that a midfielder, a winger and a number nine are much bigger priorities for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

I expect Spurs to pay around £20m for a fourth-choice centre-back, or a left-back who can also cover the left-centre-back position.
