Matthews-Lewis returns to Boro

0 4

The powerful 20-year-old attacker with a keen eye for goal joins up with Spencer Day’s star-studded squad for the start of Pre-Season.

Matthews-Lewis has been with The Hatters since Under 14 level, right the way up to Paul Benson’s Development Squad – where he scored twice in the Premier League Cup in 2023/24 and fired home a hat-trick in a victorious Bedfordshire Senior Cup Final tie against Biggleswade Town in 2022/23.

Despite only arriving on loan in January, he played a crucial part in the Farnborough team that made an impressive late Play-Off push towards the end of last season. One of his highlights was netting the second goal in a 2-0 away victory over Bath City.

Having made 16 appearances in just over three months at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium, Millar will be hoping Boro go one better this time around in what is set to be another exciting season in The Vanarama National League South.

After swapping Bedfordshire for Hampshire, Matthews-Lewis told the Club’s Media:

“When I joined in January, the four months I was here was brilliant. From the fans, down to the staff and obviously the players helped me as soon as I came in. It was a different experience.

“My first learn, but I fitted in straight away and it was a really good experience for me, so coming back is even better.”

“I wasn’t able to produce much with the goals and assists [last season], but the main thing I want to do is score goals, create goals and obviously win games.”

When asked about his expectations for the new season: “There should only be one for everyone – which is promotion or to go and win the League.”

Millar has been allocated shirt number 28.
