Tottenham reveal what shirt number Archie Gray will wear this season
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that new signing Archie Gray will be wearing the number 14 shirt at the club this season.
Archie Gray officially joins Tottenham
Spurs fans are understandably excited at Gray’s signing, with the teenager being widely viewed as the best young player across the EFL.
After breaking into Leeds’ starting eleven at the start of last season, the versatile star delivered consistent performances in the middle of the park and even showcased his versatility by filling in right-back if required.
Many feel that the youngster could well be used as an inverted full-back at Spurs in rotation with Pedro Porro next season, although one would expect a player of his potential to shift into midfield as he develops.
Gray follows in the footsteps of Ginola and Modric
The club have now confirmed that Gray has been handed the historic number 14 shirt, which has been worn by many legends in the past.
Most famously, the likes of David Ginola and Luka Modric wore that number at White Hart Lane while the shirt was most recently held by Ivan Perisic until his departure in January.

This might be me reading too much into it but the selection of the number 14 shirt by Gray suggests that he very much views himself as a midfield option rather than as a right-back.
Having said that, I’m sure he will pop up in various positions across the 2024/25 season.
