Joe Rodon is heading to Leeds United

It is now clear that Joe Rodon is set to seal a permanent move to Leeds United as a part of a deal that brings Gray to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What is interesting is that rather than negotiating the price with the Elland Road hierarchy, it turns out that Spurs have activated Gray’s release clause.

According to BBC journalist Adam Pope, the clause was worth £40m, with the two clubs having now agreed on the structure of the transfer that will see Rodon re-join Daniel Farke’s side.

This was also backed up by Alasdair Gold, who confirmed that along with the inclusion of the Wales international, the operation comes up to £40m.

Meanwhile, Leeds Live reporter Beren Cross revealed that the full amount for Gray is a guaranteed payment rather than including any performance-related add-ons.

£40m is a steep price to pay for a player who is unproven at the highest level.

The fact that Spurs have agreed to do that shows just how highly Ange Postecoglou and the North London club’s recruitment department rate Gray.
