Report: Tottenham rejected a £10m offer from Ipswich Town this week

According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur turned down an offer from Ipswich Town for Joe Rodon, who is now set to move to Leeds as part of the deal to bring Archie Gray to Spurs.

Tottenham fans are understandably quite excited about the impending arrival of Gray on the back of his impressive debut season at Elland Road.

The 18-year-old has been widely tipped to be a future star and it has emerged that the Lilywhites have struck a £40m deal to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (The Standard).

As part of the agreement, Rodon is now set to seal a permanent move to Elland Road on the back of his impressive loan spell at the club, with that transaction thought to be worth £10m deal (Fabrizio Romano).

It turns out that Spurs also had an opportunity to sell Rodon to Ipswich but chose against doing so, instead using him as a bargaining chip to land Gray.

According to Football.London, Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is a big fan of the Tottenham defender and wanted to bring him to the Portman Road Stadium ahead of their Premier League season.

In fact, it is asserted that the newly promoted club sent an offer of £10m for Rodon, which was quickly turned down by Spurs.

One would have thought that Rodon’s head might have been turned by Ipswich’s offer as he would have had an opportunity to play in the Premier League.

However, it is clear that the 26-year-old felt at home at Leeds last season and developed a special connection with the club, with the defender showing great loyalty to move to the Championship side despite their failure to win promotion.
