Report: ‘Growing feeling’ at Spurs that key target can be signed for £50m

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold says there is now genuine belief at Hotspur Way that they can prise key target, Jacob Ramsey, away from Villa Park.

Tottenham like the look of Jacob Ramsey

Ange Postecoglou is looking to bolster his options in the middle of the park and one of the targets identified by the club’s recruitment team is Ramsey, with technical director Johan Lange said to be a big fan of the midfielder.

According to Gold, Spurs made ‘enquiries’ for the 23-year-old back in January and are continuing to explore a move for the player, with Ange Postecoglou thought to see the youngster as a good fit for his system.

It is explained all parties have played down suggestions of a formal offer being made by Tottenham for Ramsey but the Lilywhites are said to have probed about the midfielder’s availability, given Villa’s position with respect to PSR.

Spurs think £50m would be enough to land Ramsey

Gold says that initial indications were that the Midlands side were unlikely to consider selling their academy graduate despite his injury-hit campaign.

However, the journalist adds that there is now ‘a growing feeling’ at Spurs that an offer between £40m and £50m would be enough to convince Unai Emery’s side to sell Ramsey.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are actually prepared to part with that kind of cash for the player this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ramsey would likely be viewed by Ange as an alternative to Eberechi Eze.

I cannot see Spurs signing both players this summer, given that they play similar roles and would both require a huge financial outlay.
