The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Monday 1st July) Archie bound for Spurs after late change of heart

0 6

Good Morning, its Monday 1st July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Archie bound for Spurs after late change of heart

Archie Gray looks set to join Spurs after turning his back at the 11th hour, on a £75,000 a week contract with Brentford!

The 18yo had already completed this medical at Brentford's state of the art Performance Centre in Hounslow and agreed personal terms, only to have changed his mind around Saturday teatime after hearing Spurs were keen to weigh in on the deal.

Director of Football, Gretar Steinsson has a close working relationship with the Spurs board, having worked for them prior to him arriving at Elland Road. He may use his influence to try and cut a deal involving either Joe Rodon, Oliver Skipp, or indeed others. First team opportunities for Archie may be limited, so me may even see him back at Elland Road on loan!

Whites Midfielder in the frame for Rennes move

Leeds midfielder Glen Kamara is attracting interest from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes, according to French sporting media outlet L'Équipe.

The 28yo has had a steady first season at Elland Road following his £5m move last Summer, starting 36 league games and amassing circa 3000 minutes of game time. The Whites are expected to tie up the signing of Callum O'Hara shortly, which undoubtedly would be an upgrade on the Finnish International, and could allow them to profit from the deal.

Whilst Kamara provided three assists and a 'Whoscored' rating of 6.68, the former Coventry midfielder netted ten times (as well as three assists) and boasted a slightly higher ranking too.
Having only scored once from midfield last season (in the league), Leeds will be hoping their midfield will contribute a lot more in their next campaign ,

Rennes are in desperate need of reinforcements in midfielder, having lost Nemanja Matic to Lyon and Fabian Rieder to Stuttgart. To make matters worse, it looks likely they could be losing Enzo Le Fee who is attracting interest from Roma.

Au revoir Cressy

Charlie Cresswell is expected to complete a £3.8m transfer to Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse in the next 24 hours, a move that will hopefully kickstart his career.

He joined the Whites Academy back in 2013, during a time his father, and former Leeds player (Richard) was coaching at Thorp Arch. He made his debut in 2020 in a EFL Cup clash against Hull City, during which time, we all had high hopes that the 6ft 3' centre-back would become an instrumental part of our first team. Alas, it was not meant to be!
