Sean Crighton comes on board as B Team Head Coach

Queen’s Park are pleased to announce that Sean Crighton has been appointed as the Head Coach of their B Team and has already started working with the next generation of Spiders’ talent.

The club underwent a thorough recruitment process for the appointment, which will report to the Academy Director and work closely with the First Team Manager on the transition of players between the B Team and First Team squad and are pleased to bring in Sean.

The 34-year-old is already well-known in Scottish Football after a long career as a defender, having played in nearly 600 senior games, with nine different clubs, including winning promotion with Dumbarton in his last senior outing in May.

During his playing days Sean built a sperate career as a coach which included Academy positions at Greenock Morton and Airdrieonians before helping Hamilton Academical’s young players develop into first team regulars winning the SPFL Youth League and playing in the UEFA Youth League on the way.

Academy Director Tommy McIntyre said: “Sean impressed everyone with his professionalism and desire to coach in the environment that has been created at Queen’s Park.

“He is a young, highly talented innovative coach who will embrace the philosophy at the club and further develop not only the young potential players that he will be working with but himself as an elite coach in a High-Performance environment.

“The ‘B’ Team like all teams in the academy is an integral part of the club as it prepares the players for the next step in their journey which is First Team football.”

Queen’s Park’s Director of Football Darren O’Donnell said: “Sean is coming to us with a lot of great qualities in terms of his experience as a professional player and coaching abilities. As a coach he already has a record for nurturing young talent at professional clubs and that is important to us.

“We have high hopes for Sean as he has a proven record of developing players to bridge the gap between Reserve and First team. We are sure that he will go on and be a great asset to the club.”
