NEWCASTLE UNITED are reportedly lining up a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin that could see one of their stars leave this summer.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are pushing to sign Calvert-Lewin from Everton.

The 27-year-old has long been linked with a switch to St James’ Park and Newcastle appear to finally be making moves to get it over the line.

It’s said that the Magpies interest in Calvert-Lewin dates back to 2021.

The striker has just one year left on his deal at Goodison Park and is understood to be keen on a switch to Tyneside.

His contract will likely force Everton‘s hand as they look to cash in on the 11-time England international to help shift the needle on their financial fair play concerns.

Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Atletico Madrid over £30m-rated striker Samu Omorodion.

Leicester City have announced Steve Cooper as their new manager after the Graham Cooper deal collapsed.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are set to reject a bid from Atletico for midfielder Conor Gallagher, SunSport can exclusively reveal.

It’s reported that negotiations between the clubs are underway, but a fee is yet to be agreed.

Crucially, Newcastle are believed to be in a financial position that would require them to sell before they can buy this summer in order to stay on the right side of PSR regulations themselves.

And with Alexander Isak not for sale, the interest in Calvert-Lewin suggests that Callum Wilson could be leaving Newcastle this summer.

Wilson has scored 47 league goals for Newcastle since joining in 2020, making him the club’s second highest Premier League goalscorer in their history – behind only Alan Shearer.

Eddie Howe has publicly claimed he would like to keep Wilson, who he also managed during his time at Bournemouth.

Speaking last month, he said: “I expect him to be at Newcastle next season. I love my players, I love all of them.

“But different players at different times you might have to say goodbye to them.

“Whether that’s me leaving or them leaving. That is part and parcel of football. But I want to keep him at this football club.”

Wilson has already returned to the north east after his holidays and is said to be preparing for the new season already.
