Our brand-new home kit launched earlier today and is available to buy both in-store and online!

The new kit will see the Hibees returning to an all-green look for the first time since the 2008/09 season.

Men’s First Team players Joe Newell, Jordan Obita and Chris Cadden all model the new kit in the Easter Road dressing room, with Women’s players Poppy Lawson, Rosie Livingstone and Rachael Boyle also involved in the launch.

October 7, 1964

Spanish giants Real Madrid came to Easter Road for a friendly on Wednesday 7 October 1964. Under the management of Jock Stein, the Hibees triumphed against the legendary Real Madrid side – winning 2-0 on the night with Peter Cormack opening the scoring before Real Madrid defender Ignacio Zoco deflected in Pat Quinn’s effort.

The match went down as a legendary victory for the Hibees, but it also marks a significant moment in our kit history as it was the first time we wore green shorts!

To avoid a kit clash with Real Madrid (who famously wear all white), the Hibees were forced into a last-minute change – replacing our white shorts, with green.

2004/05

40 years on from our victory over Los Blancos, the green shorts were officially introduced ahead of the 2004/05 campaign in what was Tony Mowbray’s first season in charge.

The all-green look (pictured above) had a successful first season – with the Hibees clinching third spot on the final day of the season and qualifying for the UEFA Cup.

Mowbray’s side finished with 61 points, with memorable victories on the road; including a 2-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle followed by a 3-1 win over Celtic at Celtic Park in April 2005.

2006/07

The Hibees changed to white shorts in 05/06 before the green shorts returned for the 2006/07 campaign.

The season will forever be remembered for our Scottish League Cup triumph, which included wins over Peterhead, Gretna, Hearts and St Johnstone – before thrashing Kilmarnock 5-1 in the final at Hampden Park!

Lewis Stevenson picked up the man of the match award, with Abdessalam Benjelloun (x2), Steven Fletcher (x2) and captain Rob Jones finding the back of the net.

2007/08

We kept our green shorts and socks for the following campaign which saw the Hibees finish sixth in the table. We got off to a flying start to our league campaign, beating Hearts, Celtic and Rangers in our first nine games of the season.

A poor run of form followed towards the end of the year which saw John Collins lose his job, with Mixu Paatelainen replacing him in January 2008.

Paul Hanlon made his debut that season in January, the first of 565 appearances for the Club.

2008/09

The last time we wore all green was during the 08/09 season.

The Hibees started the campaign with a glamour friendly against Barcelona at Murrayfield but failed to get going during the campaign – finishing sixth for a third concessive season and exiting both cups in the early stages.

2024/25

Now, after 15 years – the all-green look is making an eagerly anticipated return!
