Report: Napoli are winning the race for 25-year-old despite links with Tottenham
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Napoli are making progress in their pursuit of Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over recent months.

Buongiorno is coming off an exceptional 2023-24 season and is part of the Italy squad for the Euros, being an unused substitute in the Azzuri’s 2-1 win over the weekend.
Last month, it was reported by CalcioMercato (via InsideFutbol), that Antonio Conte has told the Napoli hierarchy that he wants the Torino star to be his first summer signing.
It was claimed that the former Spurs head coach has urged the club to beat the Lilywhites and AC Milan to the 25-year-old’s signature.
Napoli are winning the race for Buongiorno
Area Napoli subsequently offered Tottenham a boost by stating that Napoli might not be able to afford Torino’s €40m (£34m) asking price, thus potentially opening the door for the Premier League side.
However, Romano has now taken to social media to state that Napoli are advancing in their efforts to bring Buongiorno to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
The journalist added that the defender wants to join the 2022-23 Serie A champions and that an offer is expected to arrive soon as the talks continue between the two sides.

The obstacle that Tottenham face is that Ange will not be able to offer Buongiorno any guarantees regarding game time.
The 25-year-old would have seen Dragusin’s struggles to get starts and may think twice about making the switch to N17.
