Report: When Spurs players are likely to return to Hotspur Way for pre-season

Tottenham Hotspur players are either competing in Euro 2024 and Copa America, or enjoying a holiday right now. Here’s when the various sections of the squad are expected to return to the club to begin pre-season training.

When will pre-season start for Tottenham?

The 2023/24 campaign ended on May 19 for Spurs, with a comfortable 3-0 win over Sheffield United, a result that sealed fifth place in the Premier League and Europa League football for the Lilywhites.

Then, there was the small matter of a post-season friendly against Newcastle United just three days later, taking place in Melbourne, Australia. That game involved almost all of the first-team squad.

Since then, we have seen Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Radu Dragusin called up for Euro 2024 by their respective countries. Meanwhile, Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso are set to represent Argentina at the upcoming Copa America tournament.

Spurs players will return to the club next month

Both those international tournaments end on July 14th, but Ange Postecoglou can expect to see a bulk of his senior squad arriving back at Hotspur way before that date.

That’s according to a report from Football.London, which states an exact date has not been confirmed, but players are in line to start returning to the club from July 3rd onwards.

That date will differ from player to player “depending on how late their international commitments” continue over the next month. It is thought players will get “at least three weeks” of rest after any exit from the tournaments they are involved in.

The youth players at the club will return “a little earlier,” although the progress and subsequent success of the Under-21 side in the Premier League 2 play-offs may see their date pushed back.

It may be a bit of a blessing in disguise for Spurs that so few players are involved in Euro 2024 and Copa America, as that just means the majority of the squad will be at Hotspur Way as soon as possible, working on their fitness ahead of the new season.
