National media reveals how Tottenham’s Troy Parrott got on in his big test against Portugal
It turns out Troy Parrott did not have the best out of outings against Portugal, with the Republic of Ireland being on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat.

Parrott came into the game high on confidence, finishing his loan spell at Excelsior Rotterdam in sublime form, with a total of 17 goals across the campaign for the Dutch side.
The Tottenham man then took that form onto the international stage, coming off the bench to net a last-minute winner for Ireland last week against Hungary in Dublin.
That earned Parrott a place in the starting eleven against Portugal but the striker failed to grab his opportunity and was hooked after 53 minutes after struggling to have much impact on the game.

The Irish press was not complimentary about the 22-year-old’s performance, suggesting that he was a passenger when he was on the pitch.
Balls.ie handed Parrott a rating of four out of 10 and wrote about him: “Near-anonymous in the first half. Could have been in had Szmodics spotted him charging down the right in the 32nd minute. Taken off just after the break.”
The Irish Mirror also gave the striker the same rating, while writing: “Ireland’s match-winner against Hungary last week was rewarded with a start but he made no impact whatsoever and was subbed.”
Meanwhile, Alasdair Gold stated in a Q&A on Football.London a couple of days ago that Parrott is attracting quite a bit of interest this summer and added that he would not be surprised if Tottenham cashed in on their academy graduate.

Parrott is not the sort of forward who can go past players and make things happen on his own.
He is reliant on service from his teammates to impact the game and he clearly did not get that against Portugal, who dominated from start to finish against the Irish.
