Arsenal scout £52 million defender to beat Man United and Liverpool to his signing

Arsenal had the best defensive record in the Premier League last season as the Gunners conceded only 29 goals in their 28 games.

William Saliba and Gabriel formed a rock solid partnership, which helped Mikel Arteta’s team to challenge for the Premier League title and take the title race to the last day of the season.

They eventually lost the title to Manchester City but they showed their defensive quality throughout the season, becoming one of the best defensive teams in Europe.

The latest report from The Sun suggests that they could sign another highly-rated defender to add to their defensive line.

Arsenal are interested in signing Sporting centre-back Goncalo Inacio, who has a £52 million release clause at the Portuguese club.

As per the report, the North London club’s scouts have been keeping an eye on the defender.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also keen to get his signature done this summer, according to GiveMeSport.

By giving their starting centre-back duo of Gabriel and Saliba more depth and protection, Arteta hopes to bolster his defense.

As a youngster, Inacio made his senior Sporting debut in October 2020.

Since then, he has developed into one of the Primeira Liga’s most promising prospects.

Under Roberto Martinez, he has also made a name for himself with the Portugal national team.

As a result, Inacio’s contract contains a £52 million release clause that expires in June 2027, and Sporting are willing to wait for an offer that is around that amount.

Arsenal want to improve their already strong defense

The Gunners are ready to bolster their defense as well as their attack in order to beat Man City to the Premier League title next season.

Despite Benjamin Sesko signing a new contract at RB Leipzig, the Gunners are out in the market for a new prolific striker to lead their attack next season.

Arteta continues to be backed by the club after showing promising signs in his management career at Arsenal.
