Man Utd's best attack to beat Man City in FA Cup final, key duo return - View

0 5

Manchester United take on arch-rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat at the same stage of the competition last year and they will be aiming to make amends with an improved attacking performance.

United manager Erik ten Hag has gone with a front four of Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo and Scott McTominay recently, but we expect changes tomorrow.

McTominay and Diallo are likely candidates to be benched with Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund being reintroduced to the starting line-up for the Wembley showdown.

Rashford has not been in good form this season with only eight goals, but he tends to reserve his best for the Manchester derby. He has six goals against the Cityzens in his career.

The United graduate scored with a sublime long-range strike in a 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium back in March. He will want to contribute to a winning cause this time around.

Similarly, Rasmus Hojlund will be determined to make an impact after scoring off the bench in the last two games for United. It is a no-brainer for the Dane to lead the line.

This would allow Bruno Fernandes to drop into the number 10 role which is his strongest position.

The Portuguese continues to remain one of the most creative players in the Premier League.

In the recent campaign, he managed a whopping 210 shot-creating actions with an average of 6.06 chances created per game. Only Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard had more.

It is quite clear that Fernandes fares best from the playmaker position. He will have a huge role to play at Wembley with his knack for providing key passes on the counter-attack.

Alejandro Garnacho has started 37 consecutive games for United and he will certainly make the XI against City. The Argentine could slot on the right wing with Rashford on the left.

Despite his evident preference for the left flank (eight goal involvements in 32 games), Garnacho has fared better from the right with four goals and two assists from 16 outings.

The quartet would be United’s best attack against City. The Red Devils will be aiming to win their 13th FA Cup which would also guarantee a Europa League group stage spot.
