How long each Tottenham Hotspur player has left on their current contract

As we move into the close season, it’s time for player contracts to come to an end. So, here’s a look at the Tottenham Hotspur squad and when their current deals expire.

Tottenham have a pretty large squad, and it’s so bloated that a number of players are expected to leave this summer. Or, at least, they will be made available for transfer to clear the decks and allow for new players to come in.

Some of those deals will be harder to strike due to how long some players still have on their contracts. Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou and his staff will be happy to know that some key players have huge contracts and won’t be going anywhere.

Contracts expiring in 2024

Ryan Sessegnon: It has recently been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that Spurs will not trigger the one-year extension in Sessegnon’s contract and he will leave the club this summer.

Brandon Austin: The backup goalkeeper is nearing the end of his current deal but ‘positive talks’ have taken place recently to extend that (Football.London).

Timo Werner (loan): It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will make Werner‘s stay in North London a permanent one, but as things stand, he will be returning to RB Leipzig shortly.

Contracts expiring in 2025

Fraser Forster: Spurs’ number two keeper is entering the final year of his contract with the club, and it’s very unlikely he would get another extension.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: With just 12 months left on his current deal, and limited game time, it’s very likely the Danish midfielder will be moved on this summer.

Tanguy Ndombele: Tottenham fans are probably counting down the days until this contract finally comes to an end, but the club will definitely be looking to offload Ndombele a year early this summer.

Giovani Lo Celso: Another player who has found his opportunities limited in North London, Lo Celso is a wanted man and could well move on this summer.

Heung-min Son: The Spurs captain has an option in his contract to extend for a further year, but there are ‘ongoing’ talks to offer the South Korean a bigger, better deal (GiveMeSport).

Ben Davies: Tottenham’s longest-serving squad member is heading into the final year of his current deal, and more than likely won’t be offered another contract

Sergio Reguilon: The writing has been on the wall for a while with Reguilon and he will most likely be sold this summer ahead of his deal ending next year.

Japhet Tanganga: The academy graduate probably won’t be at the club much longer, as reports suggest a deal is in place for him to join Millwall this summer (The Mirror).

Joe Rodon: In a similar situation to Tanganga, Joe Rodon has enjoyed his loan spell with Leeds United this year and appears destined to join a new club this summer. It could be Leeds, but it all depends on the result of the Championship play-off final.

Alfie Whiteman: Tottenham’s fourth-choice goalkeeper holds very little value to the club, and if they don’t offload him this summer, he will almost definitely leave on a free transfer next year.

Contracts expiring in 2026

Bryan Gil: The young Spaniard appears to have absolutely no future at Spurs and will be one of the main names looking for a move away this summer as he will not want to waste another two years in London.

Rodrigo Bentancur: With another two years to go on his current contract, there will probably be very little movement any time soon regarding a new deal, but an extension will likely come at some point.

Yves Bissouma: There are murmurs that Spurs might listen to offers for Bissouma this summer, but they are by no means in a position where they will feel forced to sell, and neither will they feel the need to extend his deal just yet.

Emerson Royal: Has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs this summer, and the fact he has two years left on his contract will do his value no harm.

Contracts expiring in 2027

Cristian Romero: As one of the most integral parts of this Tottenham squad, don’t be surprised if Romero gets a bumper extension to his current deal at some point in the next year.

Richarlison: It’s hard to predict what the future holds for Richarlison at Spurs, but with three years left on his deal there is likely to be very little movement any time soon.

Oliver Skipp: As a homegrown, club-trained player, Skipp holds a certain degree of value to Spurs, but they’re unlikely to offer him a new contract in the near future, and he’s arguably more likely to be sold next summer to maximise his price tag (unless he goes this summer, that is).

Djed Spence: Signing Spence to a five-year contract and then never playing him will go down as a major mistake for Spurs, but he is likely to be sold this summer.

Dane Scarlett: The young striker made a few cameo appearances towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign and will be hoping to make an impact next season, be it on loan or on the fringes of Postecoglou’s squad.

Contracts expiring in 2028

James Maddison: This contract will see the playmaker through his peak years at Spurs, and given the nature of his game, he might not extend his stay at this level beyond 2028.

Dejan Kulusevski: The young Swede has had an inconsistent season for Spurs, but is still held in high regard and has plenty to give over the next four years.

Pedro Porro: It’s a good job Porro is tied down long-term because he will probably be a wanted man if he carries on playing the way he has this season.

Guglielmo Vicario: By 2028, Vicario will be approaching 32-years-old. But, if he continues to perform the way he has in his first season with Spurs, he will likely get an extension.

Manor Solomon: Could well be sold this summer, just one year into his five-year contract, after barely playing for Spurs this season due to injury.

Ashley Phillips: Likely to spend next season on loan again, but has a bright future at Spurs and they’ll be glad they have him tied down for so long.

Contracts expiring in 2029

Brennan Johnson: After facing some criticism earlier this season, the Welshman came good for Spurs and fans should be pleased that Johnson has so long left on his current deal.

Micky van de Ven: He may still have five years left on his contract, but an argument could be made for extending that right away and getting him locked in for another five on top of that.

Alejo Veliz: Will be looking to put a mightily disappointing loan spell to Sevilla behind him as we head into next season, and definitely has work to do to prove he belongs at Spurs.

Contracts expiring in 2030

Destiny Udogie: Spurs made the shrewd move of tying Udogie into a massive contract in the middle of the 2023/24 campaign, and they now have one of the brightest left-backs in the world on their books for another six years.

Pape Sarr: Around the same time as Udogie’s extension, Sarr was handed a new deal, as Tottenham looked to protect their most promising assets.

Radu Dragusin: Clearly, Spurs signed Dragusin with high hopes and offered him a bumper six-year deal.
