Report: Spurs plot a double swoop for two Chelsea players

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to take advantage of the instability and financial situation at Chelsea by swooping to sign both Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah from their rivals this summer.

It has been well documented for a while now that Spurs hold an interest in both players, with Ange Postecoglou known to be keen to bolster both his central defensive and central midfield options ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

In the case of Gallagher, who has stood in as Chelsea’s captain this season, it is thought Spurs are very much leading the race to sign the midfielder who has still not been offered a new contract by the Blues with just a year remaining on his current deal (Football Insider).

However, Fabrizio Romano did suggest there has not been any ‘concrete’ approach from Spurs yet and that any transfer is still some way off.

Chalobah, another Chelsea academy graduate, could find his time at the club over, and Tottenham have been mentioned with a £25 move on the cards (The Telegraph).

Can Spurs pull off a double Chelsea transfer?

So, can Tottenham raid their rivals for not one but two of their homegrown talents? Well, the latest from HITC suggests that’s exactly the plan, with a double transfer being prepared by Spurs.

Tottenham have reportedly “asked Chelsea” about Chalobah as they “gear up” for a move for Gallagher, too. The Lilywhites are now “expected to press ahead” with an approach for Chalobah this summer.

It is thought a fee of around £30m including add-ons would be enough to sign Chalobah, putting him in the “right price bracket” for Spurs.

But, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves are all interested, too, as are clubs in Germany and Italy. Chalobah is believed to prefer staying with Chelsea, but it has been made clear he will be moved on.

I’m not the biggest fan of Chalobah, to be honest. For a fourth-choice centre-back, I think we can do better, for cheaper.
